Betis solidify their hold on the third spot in La Liga

Real Betis defended well on home ground to keep their sheet clean in the 4-0 win against visitors Alaves. The relegation-threatened side took a big beating in the Spanish League by the third-placed team. Manuel Pellegrini's team now enjoys a four-point advantage over defending champions, Atletico Madrid.

Betis built their lead from the first half itself, forward Borja Iglesias scored twice and Sergio Canales scored a goal to give Betis a comfortable 3-0 lead before the second half and later Juanmi Jimenez completed the four-goal haul to seal their win and snap their three-game winless streak in the league. Betis now trails behind second-placed Sevilla by seven points.
