Bilbao enjoys a tough win against Espanyol

In the La Liga match, Athletic Bilbao moved ahead with their hopes to lock a spot for European competition with the 2-1 success against Espanyol at San Mames. Inigo Martinez scored the second goal for the side just 11 minutes after Sancet levelled the score and made the score 2-1. It was a distracted opening spell, Espanyol took advantage and went ahead just three minutes through Tonny Vilhena.

Espanyol borrowed the player from FC Krasnodar in January. Espanyol wound up with 57% of domination and kept Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon working hard in the goal post as he denied them a leveller when he tipped Sergi Darder's effort over the crossbar later on. Athletic is eighth on the table, Espanyol on the other hand stayed thirteenth and are present without a win in four matches.
