Blues have a new target for transfer- Edouard Mendy

Blues' announcement to take on Edouard Mendy for £18m meant only one thing: they would be replacing Kepa Arrizalabaga from the team.

The goalkeeper from Rennes showed a lot of potential during Rennes’ qualification for the Champions League.  Frank Lampard was impressed with Mendy’s skills and with the Spaniard's high profile mistakes last year put him on the fast track out of the team.

But Chelsea has not received any offers for Kepa this year, and even if they did Blues could incur a huge loss after spending  £71.6m to sign him on from Athletic Bilbao in 2018. The Spaniard in the meantime will stay at Stamford Bridge.

Rennes’ 28-year-old would join Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz, and Ben Chilwell at Stamford Bridge. And Kepa Arrizalabaga has been given a second chance to fight for his place in the club.
