The sporting director Gianluca Petrachi was officially suspended of his duties last Thursday and CEO Guido Fienga has temporarily taken over the transfer negotiations.
“The news about Petrachi left me a bit perplexed,” he told Centro Suono Sport. “Roma still have a lot to play for. A place in the Champions League and then the Europa League.”
The current member of UEFA’s Executive Committee has great expectations for the new Europa League format and has claimed it could become ‘a future solution’.
The competition will hold the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the Final in Germany, with the new schedule set to culminate at RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.
“Playing the final phase of the European Cups in only three or four stadiums of a nation is not bad. This choice was dictated by needs, but it could also be a solution for the future.”
