Borussia Dortmund, secured a 2-1 victory at Mainz

Reyna also scored the late winner for Dortmund in a 4-3 victory against Augsburg on Sunday, and he did it again in Mainz after coming on with less than 30 minutes remaining. In the third minute of added time, Reyna scored on a free kick that fellow replacement Sébastien Haller had headed on. Running near the corner flag, the American raised his right index finger to the sky.

With his fourth goal of the year, Reyna maintains Dortmund's unbeaten start to 2023 and takes the team five points behind league-leading Bayern Munich, who has two draws since returning from the winter break. Dortmund coach Edin Terzi remarked, "We're thrilled to come out of the starting blocks like that into the new year. "We know that we have a lot of work ahead of us."
