Bosnia stage second-half comeback to defeat Romania

The hosts overcame a first-half deficit with three unanswered goals after the break in a spirited performance. Romania struck first when Daniel Birligea found the net in the 17th minute, tapping in an inch-perfect cross from Valentin Mihaila.

However, the game's complexion changed entirely in the second half. Veteran striker Edin Dzeko leveled the score for Bosnia just four minutes after the restart, pouncing on a rebound to fire home in the 49th minute. Romania's task was made more difficult in the 67th minute when Denis Dragus received a straight red card.

Bosnia capitalized on their numerical advantage, with 20-year-old Esmir Bajraktarevic scoring a spectacular goal in the 79th minute. Substitute Haris Tabakovic sealed the vital three points in the third minute of stoppage time to make it 3-1. The win is critical for Bosnia's ambitions to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
