Brighton & Hove Albion made their way forward to the Premier League safely and Newcastle United was left deep in the relegation zone after the former won against the latter by 3-0 on Saturday in the basement battle. Brighton was given the lead just before half-time by Leandro Trossard’s finish and that was matched by Danny Welbeck six minutes after the restart.
The misery of Newcastle was over when Neal Maupay’s finish made it a 3-0 when the last 20 minutes were left. This was the second consecutive victory of the 16th positioned Brighton at 32 points from a total of 29 games, which is six points more than Fulham, who is 3rd from the bottom. Newcastle won in 6 games without a league and are at 17th, ahead of Fulham by only 2 points.
