Smith Rowe scored for the Gunners in the 13th minute, in a goal much contested by the home team. Following a corner, David De Gea was trampled by teammate Fred and fell to the ground with complaints. Oblivious to this, Smith Rowe fired into goal and scored.
Manchester United reacted near the break, and equalized the score through Bruno Fernandes, who had not scored since September 11 in the Premier League.
The second half began with the 800th goal in Cristiano Ronaldo's career, in a move in which Diogo Dalot was highlighted. The Portuguese defender made an excellent pass to Rashford who, crossed to the area where Ronaldo made the second of the red devils (70').
Almost immediately afterwards, Odeegard leveled the score for Arsenal in the 54th minute, but in the 70th minute Ronaldo scored twice to give Manchester United the victory after successfully converting a penalty.
