Borussia Dortmund in their latest Bundesliga match took down Freiburg by 5-1 with a double by Erling Haaland. The three points lifts second-placed BVB closer to Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich after the masterclass performance at Westfalenstadion. Haaland’s brace also inspired defender Thomas Meunier to post a double of his own as they cut the gap from nine points at the start of the calendar year to three from Die Roten.
Meunier twice headed in from Julian Brandt corners to score his first net of the season then Haaland who was on a goal drought for two games made a comeback against Freiburg. Breisgau-Brasilianer substitute Ermedin Demirovic did score once at the hour but Dortmund stayed active and Mahmoud Dahoud completed the five-goal rout as they climbed closer to Munich.
