Cadiz climb out of relegation zone with a win

Salvi Sanchez scored the lone goal of the match as Cadiz saw off Athletic Bilbao with a 1-0 win. Cadiz got their hands on the three points to move out of the drop zone in the La Liga fixture. Sanchez shot from a tight angle in the sixth minute with a great pass by Anthony Lozano at San Mames Stadium. Bilbao had almost handed Cadiz another lead but the Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon saved the team by denying Alberto Perea a shot who had fought off defender Unai Nunez to create a chance.

Bilbao then was unable to find a breakthrough past Cadiz's disciplined defence to find a leveler who had their eye set on the second win of the season. Cadiz finished in 14th place with a two-point lead over the drop zone.
