Newcastle boss Steve Bruce was relieved with the win over Everton as the struggling side registered their first win from 10 Premier League matches all thanks to Callum Wilson's double which gave them a 2-0 win over Everton. 16th-placed Magpies have been struggling this season with relegation threat looming over their heads the win eases pressure as it leaves them with 22 points from 21 games as Wilson netted his 50th and 51st Premier League goals.
Everton’s unimpressive performance though may not have hurt their standing in League but speaks volumes, they are 33 points in the clear with 19 matches. The lethargic Everton who lacked bite and creativity gave Newcastle a perfect opportunity to make a comeback. Wilson was denied twice during the match as well, his 30th-minute strike was saved by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and his 53rd-minute strike went wide thus leaving Wilson with the thought that he could have scored more.
