Champions League match has been cancelled on account of COVID-19 positive cases

UEFA has got the chance to throw the Kosovan side out of the 2020-21 competition way before the completion of 2019-20 completion.

It has been established by UEFA that the Champions League tie between KF Drita and Linfield has been cancelled on account of the COVID-19 positive test. The preliminary round tie between the Kosovan counterparts and the Northern Ireland side was scheduled to take place at Nyon, Switzerland on August 11. All the proceedings had resulted due to a Kvita player testing corona positive on Monday. The player had tested negative in the test held on August 7. The rest of the Drita squad had tested negative before arriving in Switzerland. The UEFA statement said that a player from KF Drita tested COVID-19 positive and had been put into quarantine along with another teammate who had been in close contact with the affected player. The second player testing positive compelled the Swiss authorities to keep the entire Kosovan team in isolation. This has led to the decision that the upcoming fixture can’t be played.
