Chelsea defeats Liverpool at Anfield 1-0

Liverpool after topping the charts at the start of the season is crashing to a new low with a fifth back-to-back home defeat, the first time in the franchise’s history. Chelsea inflicted more pain on the defending champions with Mason Mount's intense first-half goal that saw them to a 1-0 win on Thursday. Chelsea was denied a goal at first with Timo Werner defending past Alisson to score in an open net, but the goal was ruled out by VAR.

Liverpool's defense could not help them when Mount cut past them to curl into the far corner. Chelsea had many chances to increase their lead as well but couldn’t do so while Liverpool on their home ground failed to register a shot on target until the last 10 minutes
