Injury-ridden Chelsea slipped against Brighton and gave away two points which hurt their title run this season. As Manchester City took advantage of their slip-up and extended their lead to eight points, Chelsea is second on the table close to losing the position to Liverpool who has one game in hand. Thomas Tuchel’s side had almost secured a win with Romelu Lukaku’s goal in the first half that gave them a one-goal lead until Blues conceded a late goal when Brighton substitute Danny Welbeck broke through their tough defense to head in a leveler at stoppage time. Chelsea even lost Reece James mid-match as the list of injured players rises.
Graham Potter's side was not intimidated by Chelsea as Adam Lallana and Yves Bissouma kept Edouard Mendy busy on either side of the half searching for a leveler. The team had almost accepted defeat but Welbeck had other ideas and salvaged a point for the visitors.
