Blues sealed a 2-0 win in the first-leg of the Champions League by punishing Porto in the quarter-finals. Chelsea was ready for a battle with Porto who had outclassed Sevilla in CL but lacked precision this time against Chelsea, who took advantage and got a leg up early. Mason Mount first opened for the Blues with a slick turn and shot that left Porto stunned and Ben Chilwell later pounded more misery on the rivals by scoring late during the second half by leveraging on Porto’s error and almost sealed an entry into the semi-finals.
Chelsea’s win would be a huge boost to their morale after the team lost shockingly to West Brom by 5-2 ending their 14-game unbeaten streak under Thomas Tuchel. It wasn't the lack of trying on Porto’s part but the accuracy that did them in. They were in a constant attacking mode by kept missing.
