Chelsea loses at Aston Villa 2-0 for the Blues' first defeat in five games

Aston Villa defeated Chelsea 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday thanks to goals from Ollie Watkins and John McGinn. Villa has managed to handle the Blues' first loss in five games. Watkins startled the hosts early on with a lobbed first-half goal, and then, just past the hour mark, the Villa skipper buried a superb long-range shot.

Graham Potter's once-revived home team faltered in defeat at Stamford Bridge, dropping them five points out of the top seven and maybe out of contention for European participation. Yet for Unai Emery's guests, the outcome puts them ahead of their rivals and keeps them with a remote chance of a surprise continental place. McGinn's beautiful volley off the crossbar gave Chelsea some luck, but in the 18th minute, their luck ran out.
