Could Benzema win the Ballon d'Or?

Benzema is the king of Real Madrid this season and so far no one has proven capable of stopping him.

With Real Madrid down and at times seemingly inches from being out, Los Blancos bounced back on three separate occasions to leave Manchester City with a result they can bounce back at the Santiago Bernabéu.

One of those occasions was due to a brilliant individual performance by Vinicius Junior, but without a doubt the man of the moment was Benzema. His Panenka penalty was audacious and cold, but the finish for his first goal could barely be considered a chance. As Miguel Quintana pointed out, he had an xG of just 0.035.

However, it has been that way throughout Real Madrid's Champions League campaign. There were crucial contributions from Luka Modric, Thibaut Courtois and Vinicius, but the reality is that Real Madrid won't get anywhere near the semi-finals without him.
