Manchester United is top of their Champions League group with the win over Atalanta as the team has gotten used to relying on the last-minute heroics of Cristiano Ronaldo to rescue the team. At the Gewiss Stadium, Ronaldo first silenced the crowd with a beautiful equalizer after Josip Ilicic had put the team ahead in just 12 minutes, as he caught Red Devils keeper David De Gea off guard.
United hit another snag when Raphael Varane walked off with an injury but soon after Ronaldo came to the rescue and leveled the score before halftime. In the next half, United had to rely on another Ronaldo’s goal to rectify the error made by Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire, which resulted in Duvan Zapata scoring late in the match and handed Atalanta a lead.
