Two penalties by Cristiano Ronaldo helped hold the world champions France to a 2-2 draw and Portugal advanced to the knockout stage as one of the four best third-placed teams. The Portugal captain even leveled the all-time international scoring record with his 109th goal on Wednesday as the reigning champions scraped through in Euro 2020 along with Germany and Spain.
Ronaldo first placed Portugal ahead with his first spot-kick of the tournament, Karim Benzema then went on to score twice for France on either side of the half. Ronaldo then went on to convert one more penalty to draw the match and set up a clash with top-ranked Belgium. Germany also avoided defeat against Hungary despite their best efforts and salvaged a 2-2 draw in the end with an 84th-minute leveler from Leon Goretzka. Germany would now take on England at Wembley.
