Even before Lionel Messi won the FIFA World Cup 2022 title with Argentina, Cristiano Ronaldo had already made up his mind about whether such an accomplishment would be deemed significant. Despite Messi's success in the tournament, Ronaldo's thoughts about the issue have resurfaced.
In an interview with journalists before the start of the World Cup, Ronaldo said that the issue would not stop persisting even if he won the World Cup. He stated: "Even if I win the World Cup, that will continue. Some people like me more, some less. It's as if there were some brunettes and blondes in life. Everyone has their own perspective. I respect that," he said previously. Ronaldo and Messi have dominated the football landscape for more than a decade. At the club level, the two superstars have shared the top honours.
