Czech Republic finds a memorable 2-0 win against Netherlands

Czech Republic stays alive in UEFA Euro 2020 while the reigning champions perished on the same night. Czech Republic advanced to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Netherlands on Sunday. West Ham United’s duo Vladimír Coufal and Tomáš Souček were on fire in Budapest as the underdogs scraped through to the last 16 match after they finished third in Group D.

The Czechs benefited from Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt’s red car early in the second half. Slavia Prague’s Tomáš Holeš and Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick scored the two goals for the team as they qualified for the last eight rounds. Coufal and Souček also remained lively on the ground, making Netherlands work twice as hard. Souček’s header almost took his international goal tally to eight but it went wide while Coufal’s presence as a right-back helped Czech to a second clean sheet. They will now take on Denmark next Saturday.
