Finally, Danny Ings recovered from injury to attain a contentious winner from the penalty spot. This helped Southampton to come from behind to squash Brighton 2-1 on Monday. And, they managed to climb to the fifth position in the Premier League.
Brighton took the lead from the spot with Pascal Gross. And, he sent Alex McCarthy, goalkeeper the wrong way. It happened only after James Ward-Prowse grasped the ball in the area.
Just before the half-time whistle, Ralph Hasenhuttl's men found the equalizer. It was Ward-Prowse who was rectifying his earlier error. His error was a blunder as he picked out Jan Vestergaard, who headed home the corner. With nine minutes remaining, substitute Ings then discharged home on his return from injury. And, then Southampton was awarded a controversial penalty.
