Diego Simeone's former assistant becomes coach at Messi's old club

German Burgos has got his first job has first team coach. He was the number two to Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid and he decided to leave Atletico to focus on becoming a coach rather than an assistant.

Newell's Old Boys will be the former keeper's first club. He had been thinking of leaving Atletico Madrid for some months. Burgos arrives after the departure of Frank Kudelka, which happened on Thursday.

"Club Atletico Newell's Old Boys have announced the appointment of German Burgos as new first team coach after agreeing a deal until December 2021 with the option to renew for another season," the club said.

Newell's said that German Burgos was very interested in the club's project and he will start working on Tuesday in an evening training session.
