Julian Draxler had to undergo surgery. The player suffered an injury to his left ankle and Benfica reported in the last few hours how the operation went.
The surgery took place this Friday at the Hospital de la Luz, "led by the club's medical staff", explained the Portuguese side in a statement posted on their website.
Draxler joined the Lisbon club in 2022 on loan for the current season from Paris Saint-Germain. Since his arrival, he has made 18 appearances, eight starts, in which he has scored two goals.
Benfica are keeping a close eye on Draxler's fitness. According to local media, the rest of his season is in jeopardy, as he will need a few months to recover.
World Cup winner in 2014, he had played for PSG since the 2016-17 season. Before that, he played for Schalke 04, where he developed as a player, and Wolfsburg.
