Dusan Vlahovic scored twice as many goals as the injured team. Juventus defeated Empoli 3-2 to close to within seven points of Serie A leader AC Milan. After Szymon Urkowski had cancelled out Moise Kean's opener for Juventus, Vlahovi scored his first goal on the stroke of halftime. In the 66th minute, the 22-year-old Vlahovi doubled his tally and appeared to have all but clinched the game before Empoli's replacement Andrea La Mantia equalized for a tense finish.
Juventus had many chances to grab the lead before Adrien Rabiot whipped in a cross from the left that Kean headed in at the back post in the 32nd minute to break the deadlock. Shortly after, the Bianconeri were dealt a double blow as Denis Zakaria walked off with an apparent left thigh injury, and Empoli leveled when urkowski prodded the ball in during a goalmouth melee following a corner.
