Edwin van der Sar, an iconic figure in Dutch football, was cornered and threatened by supporters, along with his family, after Ajax lost 3-1 to Feyenoord in the Dutch league.
It all happened after Sunday's game at Cruyff Arena, Ajax's stadium. According to De Telegraaf, a group of four drunken youths chased and threatened the executive director of Ajax in the parking lot of the Johan Cruyff Arena. The swift intervention of the club's security team prevented a situation with more serious contours.
The same source underlines that the reason for these threats is related to the fact that Van der Sar is considering the rehiring of Marc Overmars, former sporting director of Ajax who was sacked following a sexual harassment scandal.
