Though Gareth Southgate’s men had already secured qualification but now they would be heading to the next stage on a high note with Raheem Sterling’s 12th-minute goal which puts them on top of Group D with seven points and enjoys a three-point lead over the 2018 World Cup finalists, Croatia.
England now enjoys a six-day break before the second round but awaits their opponents at Wembley, who will be revealed after the Group F clashes. The reigning European champions, Portugal would clash with reigning world champions France in Budapest and Germany would face Hungary in the hopes to shake things up. France currently leads Group F with 4 points and while Germany enjoys second place because of superior goal difference over Portugal.
