The 1-0 win came courtesy of an early goal from Phil Foden which serves to put Pep Guardiola's side on running for Premier League.
Just like in Wednesday's epic encounter, City took a lead within the first five minutes through Foden, who was handed a rare start. Sergio Aguero cushioned a header across the face of goal and the teenager was on hand to nod in from six yards.
Spurs came close through Son Heung-min just before the break, but his effort was denied by Ederson. The Brazilian was the hero again in the second half as he denied fellow countryman Lucas Moura an equalising goal. A Kyle Walker handball inside the box brought serious appeals from Dele Alli but, with no VAR, City were let off the hook.
There would be no late drama this time around, as City held on for a crucial three points.
