Italy netted three goals in the second half to beat turkey in the opening match of Euro 2020. Turkey was left overwhelmed as Italy dominated the show at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Friday. Italy’s strong defensive work left Turkey frustrated in the first 45 minutes of the match later Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne scored for Italy to put them ahead and Turkey’s defender Merih Demiral provided the third on a silver platter with an own goal.
The tournament thus kicked off in style after being postponed for a year due to the pandemic. Playing in front of 12,916 fans in the stadium, Italy had almost scored in the first half itself when Giorgio Chiellini’s header was saved by goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir but an OG later at 52nd minute set the momentum for Italy who then exploded in the second half to secure their first win.
