Although Mexico coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino is not taking Carlos Vela or Javier Hernandez to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup, El Tri have dropped both players from their initial 31-man squad. They have omitted both from their final squad, which will be announced before they face Iran and Sweden in Spain next month. Mexico have scheduled friendlies in Girona for November 9 and 16 ahead of their World Cup, in addition to their final match against Sweden on November 22. El Tri will also play Poland on November 22 before playing additional Group C matches on the 26th and 30th.
Mexico have now announced their preliminary 31-man World Cup squad in Spain, in addition to the opposition they will face Iran and Sweden in the same country. After dropping Vela and Hernandez, Martino has now confirmed that Mexico will not bring them to Qatar.
