French footballer Lucas Hernández has successfully undergone surgery on his right knee in Innsbruck, Austria, after suffering a serious injury at the 2022 World Cup, Bayern Munich said.
"Following his rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Lucas Hernández was successfully operated on at night in Innsbruck by Professor Christian Fink," said the club.
On the same note, Bayern adds that the defender will start recovering in the coming days, already in Munich.
Hernandez's type of injury means he will be sidelined for at least six months, which puts the player out of Bayern Munich's options for the rest of the season.
Lucas Hernández started in France's first game at the World Cup, in the 4-1 triumph against Australia, but ended up leaving in the 13th minute, due to this serious injury, being replaced by his brother Théo Hernández, an AC Milan player.
