Genoa appointed new coach Nicola

The former Crotone and Udinese boss arrived in the port city on Friday evening to work out the final details of the contract with President Enrico Preziosi.

Nicola’s contract runs to the end of the current campaign, with an option to extend for one more season if he rescues them from relegation.

He was greeted at the training ground last morning by directors and also captain Domenico Criscito.

It is a return to Genoa for 46-year-old Nicola, who was a player here for six seasons from 1995-98 and again from 1999-2002.

Nicola’s previous management jobs were with Lumezzane, Livorno, Bari, Crotone and most recently Udinese from November 2018 to March 2019.

Genoa are currently propping up the Serie A table after just two wins, five draws and 10 defeats.
