Girona beat Sevilla 2-0

On Monday night, Girona won for the second time in a row thanks to goals from Juanpe Ramirez in the 23rd and 55th minutes, respectively, to secure a 2-0 victory. All four goals were scored by Castellanos, who is on a one-season loan from New York City FC, in the previous round's 4-2 victory over the reigning champion Madrid. With the victory, the Catalan club rose to eighth place, while Sevilla dropped to 11th as a result of the loss at home.

Sevilla was attempting to extend their undefeated record to five games across all competitions after defeating Manchester United in the Europa League quarterfinals as well as Villarreal, Valencia, and Athletic Bilbao in the league. Inaki Williams, a striker for Athletic Bilbao, scored a penalty kick six minutes into the second half's extra time to help his team rescue a 1-1 draw against Mallorca.
