Goal-shy Mexico lines up against Poland in Group C

El Tri will seek to kickstart their eighth consecutive World Cup campaign with a win as Mexico vs Poland opens Group C play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday. The Mexicans have been seen out of their group for the last seven world cups they’ve qualified for, and they only dare to wish that World Cup is going to be any different. Mexico will get a clean slate and an opportunity with their first match against Poland. Poland will be trying to get a chance at the round of 16 as well.

Mexico may opt to swap out Herrera and go for a pivot with Gutierrez and Alvarez, but they lose experience by doing so. Raul Jimenez’s fitness will be a question mark, as Funes Mori is the likely backup in that case. Jimenez has struggled with consistent health since the skull fracture in 2020. Piotr Zielinski and Robert Lewandowski, both are likely start tomorrow.
