Gotze remembers Mundial'14: "I scored the goal at 35 and stopped playing"

Mario Gotze will be back at a World Cup for the Germany national team. The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder, who was the protagonist of a great soap opera in the summer market, when he was close to moving to Benfica, told of the memories he has of the 2014 World Cup, when he scored the goal that gave the Germans the title.

"It took me some time to process what had happened there. Now I have a little time to look back and understand what really happened", he began by saying in an interview with The Athletic.

Eight years later, Gotze admitted that if he could change history, he would have scored... at the age of 35.

"If I could rewrite history, even a little bit of it, I would score the goal at the age of 35 and stop playing soon after," said the midfielder.
