The Football Federation of Iran complained to FIFA about the declarations of the former footballer and coach Juergen Klinsmann, considering that they are harmful against the country and asked for his resignation from the technical study group.
The Iranian body adds that it is officially addressing FIFA, as it understands that, apart from “several unfortunate considerations about the Iranian national team and its people”, Klinsmann “made value judgments” about the culture of Iran.
“He said that in the Iran-Wales game, the players ‘worked’ the referee. That this was not a coincidence and that it is part of the culture, of their way of playing”, says Iran, justifying that Klinsmann meant that the players pressured the referee.
In view of the statements made by the former player, who was coach of Germany and the United States, Iran wants Klinsmann to recant on this matter, to apologize and “to resign”.
