Juventus 1-2 Benfica; Bianconeri spirals

Juventus seized a timely lead through Arkadiusz Milik and then disappeared from the pitch, as Benfica tossed it around to leave their Champions League campaign in shackles. For the first time ever, Juventus lost both opening group games in this tournament. They are also six points afloat of the top two.

It took merely four minutes to break through, as Leandro Paredes shot a free kick onto the head of Arek Milik, who took it into the far bottom corner of the net. Goncalo Ramos was permitted to leap relatively unhindered and luckily for Juve his header was straight at Mattia Perin.

Benfica pushed harder right after the early Juve goal and wrote their destiny themselves when Perin made a save on Rafa Silva, but could not do anything on the rebound from Neres in a move started by Enzo Fernandez.
