Antonio Conte's Inter Milan strengthened their claim at the top by winning 1-0 against Cagliari and stretch their winning streak to 11 matches and Juventus took advantage of the opportunity and stayed in contention for Serie A title by beating Genoa 3-1 and stay third on the table.
Juventus had enjoyed a 9-year long reign in Serie A and it seems like it would end soon as they remain 12 points below and fight for a Champions League spot instead. Serie A top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo was left frustrated as he could not score against Genoa and add to his 25 goals this season. Despite his shortcoming, the Turin club found an opener in Dejan Kulusevski in the 4th minute, doubled the lead in the 22nd minute itself with Alvaro Morata. Genoa did pull one back in the second half with the help of Gianluca Scamacca but Substitute Weston McKennie netted the last goal as the team claimed three more points in their bid to challenge Inter at the top.
