Napoli could only salvage a point against Juventus as the Italian series returned after a long winter break. The third-placed team is six points behind leaders and defending champions Inter Milan and five adrift of AC Milan. While Rossoneri did get a chance to play and climb closer to their local rivals after they defeated Roma, Inter did not get a chance to play after the match was declared abandoned when Bologna was a no-show.
The day started off with a coronavirus cloud hovering over the matches, some matches were even suspended on that account while some went ahead as scheduled on Thursday. Napoli started the match with a lead in under 23 minutes when Dries Mertens found the back of the net at the Allianz Stadium in Turin. Juve retaliated with Federico Chiesa’s shot that made it past David Ospina surprisingly and set Napoli level on the scoreboard. Despite their best efforts later both sides could not get their hands on the winner.
