Juventus lost to PSG in the Champions League

In the final seconds of his second-half substitution, Nuno Mendes scored the game-winning goal as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Juventus 2-1 in Turin on Wednesday. However, the French team just lost out to a surging Benfica for first place in Group H of the Champions League. Prior to their final group games, PSG and Benfica had already qualified for the round of 16 and were tied on points after drawing both of their matches 1-1.

The Parisians' superior goal differential, though, meant that a victory in Italy over a Juventus team that had already been eliminated appeared to be enough to clinch a supposedly easier matchup in the last-16 draw on Monday. Midway into the second half, after Leonardo Bonucci had cancelled out Kylian Mbappe's breathtaking opening goal, Mendes dutifully scored the game-winning goal.
