Juventus made the most of their scoring opportunities with Kean and Maria

The absence of Federico Chiesa, Arkadiusz Milik, Fabio Miretti, Paul Pogba, and Kaio Jorge forced the Bianconeri to shuffle their lineup following Thursday's 1-1 Europa League stalemate with Nantes and a pivotal second leg next week. When Nicol Fagioli wasn't entirely fit, Gleison Bremer sat out a suspension. On Wednesday, Spezia fired Luca Gotti and lined up Leonardo Semplici as the new manager.

However, Semplici had not yet signed the contract, so interim manager Fabrizio Lorieri remained in charge. Ethan Ampadu and Mattia Caldara made their comebacks from suspension, but Salvatore Esposito was suspended and injuries plagued Simone Bastoni, Szymon Zurkowski, Jacopo Sala, Joao Moutinho, and Jeroen Zoet. Manuel Locatelli had the worst possible start as he was penalized after 20 seconds for a late lunge to thwart a counterattack and will miss the Derby della Mole matchup against Torino.
