Juventus puts an end to Lazio's unbeaten home record

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci netted a penalty in both halves to boost his team to sixth place in Serie A and end Lazio's 19-match unbeaten home record. After a pitchside VAR review, the referee ruled that Danilo Cataldi tripped Alvaro Morata, and the Italy international converted from the spot midway through the first half. With seven minutes remaining, Lazio goalkeeper Pepe Reina knocked down Federico Chiesa, giving Bonucci a second penalty kick and denying Aquile coach Maurizio Sarri the chance to avenge his dismissal in August 2020.

Lazio's first home defeat in all competitions came in February when they lost 4-1 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16. Juve now has 21 points, tied with Lazio in fifth place but a goal difference disadvantage. With 32 points, Napoli is in the first place. With both Lazio's Ciro Immobile and Juventus,' Paulo Dybala out injured, clear chances were few and far between at the Stadio Olimpico.
