Juventus set European and Italian records

The Bianconeri needed only a point to secure the Scudetto, a situation they were also in last week before their 2-1 defeat to SPAL.

They earned that against Fiorentina, despite going behind to an early Nikola Milenkovic tap-in, as Alex Sandro’s header and a German Pezzella own goal turned it around.

That means Juve have won their eighth Serie A title in a row, something no top five European club had managed before.

The previous record was seven on the bounce in Ligue 1 for Olympique Lyonnais from 2001-02 to 2007-08.

By winning the Scudetto with five rounds to spare, Juve also equal the Serie A record set by Inter in the 2006-07 campaign in the era of three points for a victory.

This was the 150th Serie A game played at the Juventus Stadium, resulting in 127 wins in which they scored 335 goals.
