In a statement, Chelsea announced that the midfielder had visited a specialist to explore options for rehabilitation from the injury, with operation having been chosen as the solution.

Kanté already knew that he would not be ready to go to the 2022 World Cup with the France national team and Chelsea confirmed the break time. The midfielder will stop for four months, missing the blues practically until the final stretch of the season.
