After a player’s vote Man City demoted Kevin De Bruyne from the role of vice-captain. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has left the choice to choose a skipper into the player’s hands itself and De Bruyne is now the fourth choice when it comes to the captain. The player served as the vice-captain for the Premier League champions for the 2020/21 season. After the voting session, it has been decided Ilkay Gundogan would serve as the vice-captain to Fernandinho, while Ruben Dias stays as the third choice for the team and even served the role against RB Leipzig in the Champions League opener on Wednesday.
The Belgian playmaker has been part of the team since 2015 after he moved from Wolfsburg for £68.4million and since has helped City clinch three Premier League titles, five League Cups, and one FA Cup. His seasons have been injury-ridden while Gundogan and Dias have climbed the ranks last season with great performance.
