Jurgen Klopp was very excited on Wednesday to sign Cody Gakpo. The Liverpool coach began by praising the club's work in the PSV striker's hiring process, a race that the Reds won against Manchester United.
"It is very good news for us that he has come and I have to say that it was a great job by everyone involved, especially by Julian Ward [sporting director]", he began by saying in statements on the club's social networks.
Gakpo's transfer to Anfield was handled very quickly, but Klopp admitted he had been following the player for some time.
"The work that went into making this happen was really impressive and, in the end, we were able to sign a player that we've known for some time and that we believe will have a very bright future with us", he added.
