Grabbing the 96th-minute winner, Rayo Vallecano overcame Athletic Bilbao at San Mames on the dramatic Tuesday evening. At first, visitors went ahead with a quick goal in the fifth minute by Alvaro Garcia, but Pathe Ciss gave away the advantage with an own goal before the first half itself.
Later both the team battled to get a leg up over their Spanish rivals and Vallecano found success right at the end of the match when Radamel Falcao pushed a winner at the 95th minute. Falcao had joined Rayo this summer itself on a free transfer, in a move that was questioned by many but the Colombian answered all their questions with a thundering goal that took the newly-promoted side to fourth place with a two point lead over Barcelona.
