When they scored in a 2-0 victory against Empoli on Saturday, Alessio Romagnoli and Luis Alberto proved to be Lazio's saviors and helped the visitors finish second in Serie A.
After defeating Torino 1-0 earlier in the day, Inter Milan moved Lazio from second to third in the standings. However, Lazio's victory assured that they finished the season in second place with 74 points, two points ahead of Inter and behind undisputed winners Napoli. Romagnoli scored from a corner three minutes into the second half, setting off wild celebrations among the players and spectators from the visiting team. Just before stoppage time, Nicolo Cambiaghi of Empoli was sent a second yellow card, leaving his club with just 10 players. Three minutes later, Alberto gave the visitors the victory by utilizing the advantage.
