Leicester moved to second place in the English Premier League. They managed to do it by defeating Southampton 2-0. The credit goes to James Maddison's opening goal. This was seen with a humorous solo celebration. He set this new benchmark to follow new pandemic protocols. He also urged other players to stop hugging and kissing.
Maddison turned to face his approaching teammates. And with a huge smile on his face, he waved them away. He did this before applauding himself repeatedly. His goal was exceptional. He managed to do this after running onto Youri Tielemans' pass. And, finally, in the 37th minute, he smashed home a rising shot into the roof of the net.
Maddison said that if little things like that are what they need to keep football going, then so be it. They have been told to stop gatherings of people. And, he tried to make it light-hearted. As footballers, they get a lot of stick. So, it’s nice to put a lighter note on it.
