Leipzig was held to a frustrating draw against Stuttgart

Christopher Nkunku began the new season as he ended the last one with the initial goal in only nine minutes on Sunday however Naouirou Ahamada got a beautiful balancer before the break to leave Leipzig frustrated in the second half. Leipzig had better opportunities to seal three points however Stuttgart, who just barely held the first-class status last season, clutched to a draw to walk away with a point.

Nkunku, the 2021/22 Bundesliga player of the year, completed clinically from Dani Olmo's flick with help from Benjamin Henrichs. While Florian Mueller made the first of a few decent saves from a Lukas Klostermann header and Stuttgart evened out shortly when Ahamada scored in the bottom corner. Leipzig made multiple attempts to score again but Mueller denied Nkunku and even struck out Willi Orban's late header.
